Hello, my wondering readers,
In times of trouble, it is our job as writers and inspirationalist to stand up when a crisis happens; as an author, I can give power to the voices that need to be heard. So first, I’m sorry to all my spooky folks. I know all of you were looking forward to the content. But the truth needs to be heard and put out there. I was born and raised in North Carolina. I have lived here my whole life. As you may know or may not, a hurricane has hit my beautiful state in the western part of North Carolina hard. Growing up in these mountains, I see what kind of life and struggle the people have; it is secluded, it is a way of life, healthcare is scarce unless you drive 1 to even 2 hours to find it, people spend the majority of time working hard labor and just making enough to put food on the table. It is honest and humble living. Let me be the first to say this hurricane has nothing to do with political standing, so let me make it clear: people have lost their lives, their homes, their jobs, everything.
So, as a proud member of my state and the sole authority figure of the site and blog, I have the authority to give this platform to the voices of the mountains, which is what I will do. The first story you are about to read is from a woman who left her home that I met; we sat for hours talking about what she endured; so many people have a story that needs to be told. I will warn you that these stories are raw. They are not edited, and they are from their very own crisis. Be respectful, read thoroughly, and please have compassion towards the individuals who dare to share it. If anyone is willing to share more, and if you are from western North Carolina, where areas are affected, send them to me, and I will continue to publish your voice here. This platform is now a safe space for those affected to tell their truths and raise their voices. Please use the email attached to this site.
Furthermore, I will also be getting a list of places you can donate to and volunteer to help if you wish. Please know that the people of North Carolina have also stood up in the face of tragedy and have linemen, nurses, medical mobile transportation, supplies, food, and water all being carried into the mountains on any trailer people can find and any vehicles that will make it. The individuals who fund their aircraft have volunteered and have been flying through rescuing other people who may be stuck on the mountain and reporting the loss of life. Full recognition for the heroics deserves to be recognized! The first story will go out tonight. Look for it at 10 pm Eastern Standard Time. Thank you to all my followers and readers!
Please stay safe. I love all of you!
Always,
56
