Hello, my wondering readers,
WE HAVE LAUNCHED ON TIKTOK! Which is exciting! I started doing devotionals every Sunday. Unfortunately, I will not be posting one for October 12, 2025, as my allergies are causing me discomfort. Still, I can type it here on the 56th mile. Let’s discuss change and how to navigate the challenges of life while maintaining your faith.
Change is often one of the hardest things we encounter. Whether it’s the loss of a job, a change in relationships, or moving to a new city, these transitions can be incredibly challenging. But what if we approached these changes through the lens of faith? What role does God play in our ability to adapt and grow?
Let’s first Discuss The Nature of Change.
Change is a constant. Life is always in motion, and while we might seek stability, the reality is that growth often comes through change. In the Bible, we see countless examples of figures who faced significant changes in their lives—think of Abraham leaving his homeland, Moses leading the Israelites through the desert, or even Mary accepting the news of her pregnancy. Each of these figures embraced change in profound ways. We learn about individuals in the Bible who come from diverse backgrounds and faced various challenges.
One verse that comes to mind is Isaiah 43:19, where it says, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” This scripture reminds us that even when change feels uncomfortable or frightening, it can also be the beginning of something beautiful.
So, how do we combat the emotions of fear?
Answer: Faith as Our Anchor
For many, faith serves as a source of comfort and an anchor during times of turbulence. When the ground beneath us shifts, our beliefs can provide the foundation we need to move forward. Understanding that there is a greater plan can help us find comfort and purpose in the midst of uncertainty. Personal experiences often reveal the power of faith in moments of change. I remember a time in my life when I faced the loss of a loved one. Initially, I was devastated, but through prayer, reflection, and action, I realized this was an opportunity for growth.
I leaned into my faith, trusting that God had something better planned for me and that this was not the end of my book, just the beginning. It taught me life lessons, and God taught me how to overcome my grief and be more honest with myself. Where I felt I had to put that person away and forget about them. I learned that it wasn’t a loss when my dad passed away; it taught me about what I could and could not handle, the type of individual I wanted to be, and how I cared and carried myself. It also showed me I was stronger than I thought. What I thought was going to be the end started a wave of healing I needed for a long time.
I had to accept change with an Open Heart.
Accepting change requires an open heart—one that is willing to embrace the unknown. It’s about letting go of control and trusting in God’s timing. This is not to say that it’s easy. Grieving what was while holding onto hope for what is to come can be a delicate balance.
But I had to take a practical step to accept that change involves mindfulness and gratitude. I had to take a step back and be thankful for the lessons he taught me, the bravery that came from a situation that was already hard to begin with. What genuine faith looks like, not the kind for face. When faced with a significant shift, I took a moment to acknowledge my feelings. That it was okay to feel scared or unsure. After that, I began to practice gratitude by focusing on what I had learned from past changes and the blessings that had come my way.
Reflect on how your faith can guide you through the changes in your life. Whether it’s through prayer, community support, or personal reflection, remember that you are not alone in this journey.
Embracing change can be daunting, but with faith, we can face the unknown with courage and hope. Thank you for joining me on the 56th mile of life. Remember to subscribe and share. Until next time, take care!!
