The Act of Change

Hello, My Wondering Readers,

Technology is all around us; it brings us together to connect and has a more significant effect. However, it has also disconnected us from others and ourselves. Sometimes, we get caught up in the rush and hustle of our lives, forgetting that we are all human. And with Humanity come mistakes.

So, where did we go wrong on the connection and self-reflection aspect? We stopped reflecting and looked more into superficial value, a selling point for industries, and a big-money market for corporations worldwide. We bought into the idea that to get where you want to go, you must put human connection behind you and grind. (Physically and Metaphorically)

How do we undo the damage? How do we move forward with so much happening in the world and around us? It is pretty simple. Even Jesus did it, and even a homeless man can do it; it is called Understanding. I know it seems like a lot, but let me explain why! When you truly understand someone or something or a situation, you are opening yourself up to learning how something/someone became, looking at it from all angles, and deciding to move into a place of openness and guiding direction for growth or change.

When you can genuinely understand what understanding is and what a powerful tool it is to bring to a table, it will help you think critically and remove your emotions from the situation so you can think clearly with your head. It also allows for deeper and more meaningful connections and relationships, which will grow you as an individual.

This has been a challenge for me, having to rewire my brain not to act on instinct but to slow down and work to build connections or understand situations. The first thing I do is jump the gun, out of flight, or fight. But that is not what you need to do. The first step is to stop, reflect on the person or the situation, assess what I did wrong and what the situation/ or person went wrong, work out the problem, assess it again, pause, and then come to a solution or action. If you have done this correctly, you either learn something or grow. You know more about yourself and the areas you need to succeed.

Each of us deserves this type of connection that understanding brings because it is a product of love. Don’t let hate or misguidedness produce serious effects. It is not a bad thing to be vulnerable and to learn from the situations and people around you. In fact, I encourage it because at least you learned a lesson, and you find another piece of yourself each time!

Always,
56(Taylor)
