Over the next couple of weeks kids will be graduating and setting a course of adventure and summertime vibes. Do you remember the feel of that? When your 18 years old have no clue what in the world you want to do with your life, and all you can see is opportunities from miles around? That moment of the unknown. The last moments of freedom before the truly hard work begins.
Well, over the past couple of weeks I decided I wanted to explore that again and take it to new heights. This year I made a decision to put together a bucket list with work incorporated of course. I want to push myself over the summer and step out of my comfort zone. Maybe it was isolation from Covid, maybe it is boredom, or even just the thrill of adventure. But from a psychology standpoint the best way to overcome fears is to look them in the face, the best way to challenge yourself is to step out of your comfort zone. The way to write about intriguing and interesting things is to experience them.
Over the year I am going to try out a list of things below:
- Hike a mountain all the way to the top
- Find at least 4 waterfalls and take a picture with them.
- Rock climbing
- Try at least 5 different new foods from around the world
- Go to car shows
- Ride one of the tallest Roller-coaster (I better hear a click)
- Visit Camdon Market
- Ride the London Eye
- See a Tarantula up close and maybe hold it
- Ride a double decker bus on the top and visit historical sites around London
- Catch a catfish
- Find 3 hiking trials that are new
- Do an outside movie screening of a horror movie with my friends
- Crab Broil
- Release the three novels I have been sitting on in the next 6 months
- Go nighttime swimming
- Beat 3 people in a game of pool
- Get more in touch with nature
- Do a weird food challenge from TikTok.
- Dance in the rain
- Try a Dragon Fruit because it sounds weird and cool at the same time
- Free diving
- See a tank up close and climb inside one
- Go to an airshow
- Have a picnic on the blue ridge parkway
- Find new paranormal sites
- Learn how to speak another language
- Laugh at the funny moments
- Eat a Carolina Reaper Pepper
- See OZ
- See the Harry Potter Studio in person (Literally would have a heart attack)
- Pet a highland cow
- See the eiffel tower
- Kayak
- Identify as many stones and gems in nature as possible
- Spot a Yellow Warbler
- Lastly, I don’t know how, but i want to see a great white shark up close.
Now all these things on this list are things i want to try or do. They all may not get done, but it’s not about getting the tasks done it’s about enjoying the principle behind it. Branching out and doing things, maybe, that I have not felt comfortable doing in a while. Life does not have to just be about working, eating, and going to sleep. It’s about the experience. So, for each of you, get ready for summer, make a bucket list, and go out and have fun. Do not sit in a house filled with belongings, go out and see what the world has to offer. One of my favorite celebrities Anthony Bourdain was a chef that took his love for food and travel and combined them together. He even had a show where he took you to some places a lot of people would not go. The experiences, culture, and people he gained along the way was inspirational. So, shouldn’t we all take a page from his book to step out and see what we are made of and what we want to experience?
I hope all of you had a fantastic weekend and hope you have a great week! I can’t wait to see what all of us come up with!
Always,
