Hello Wondering Reader,
Thank you for being patient, as classes and illness have ultimately made me struggle with writing a blog this week. The topic I want to discuss is ideologies and how these can come together to produce change and progression. Do not worry fair readers, it is purely an educational blog. Warning though that these topics may be sensitive to some parties and if so you do not have to participate in reading this blog, it is purely your choice. So, what is ideology and how does it influence change. There are different kinds such as western, eastern, and indigenous. Western ideology focuses a lot on capitalism and individualism. Eastern ideology focuses on nature and the interconnectedness such as: yin/yang, Buddhism, Hinduism. Lastly my favorite indigenous ideology which focuses on natural and spiritualism as a core value to be maintained.
When we recognize different ideologies around the world it brings a bigger topic to the table, diversity. Understanding diversity educates individuals on different morals, values, and respect and inclusion of other cultures. Diversity is important because it sets the stage for global relationships such as climate, education, economic development, environmental preservation, and peace. Which are conversations, no matter your personal feelings, that need to be had.
As a society we have already set the groundwork for this. Whether its teaching students about the world and the differences in cultures, or you are getting on a plane and taking a vacation to another country such as Japan, Egypt, Africa, or Thailand. When we educate ourselves on other cultures, we can start having conversations of not only how to be more self-aware but also inclusive and diverse when tackling problems in personal relationships but also on global issues. This creates progression and motivation on movements for change. But change is never easy so in our ways we need to adapt like a tree and combat the storm together. Consider cultural awareness as a way to progress in communication, understanding, and improve relationships. Hence the phrase “Don’t judge a book by its cover”. You would be surprised by the stories and lessons you can learn from other cultures and how to progress not only with your physical well-being but also in the relationships you keep. By not maintaining bias you are able to not only expose yourself to learning more about the world but also developing more understanding and knowledge. This provides a greater impact on unity and equality.
Always,
